Public Safety
The Tyber Lustig Foundation does not think the ability of law-abiding citizens to travel down a street, shop at a store and return safely to the comfort of their own place of residence, should ever be compromised. Is that asking for too much? Yet in recent years, there has actually been organized efforts by elected officials, no less, to weaken our law enforcement efforts. We include this topic in our content because in our efforts to help people achieve a happy life, it begs the question, “How can I be happy if I do not feel safe in my own residence or even walking down a street?”
As for the screams of, “What about cops that have done bad things?” Our reply is that all professions have members with varying degrees of competency and ethics. If an unethical doctor over prescribes medications or performs unnecessary medical procedures to unlawfully increase their income, are there calls to defund the entire medical profession?
Sadly, there will always be bad people in a society that do not care if they harm others. All the lawmaking in the world will not prevent that. As a society all we can do is to do our best to apprehend the bad guys and do our best to stem the tide of repeat offenders. No profession, race or ethnicity should ever be condemned for the unlawful acts of a few of their members.
However, members of our law enforcement communities are being besieged with efforts to restrict their abilities to apprehend law breakers while at the same time giving criminals a slap on the wrist that can only lead to an explosion of repeat offenders. This trend should show up anytime someone searches the term, “F’n stupid!” As a society we should be handcuffing criminals, not law enforcement officers. Law enforcement should be given all the tools necessary to keep law abiding citizens as safe as possible. How hypocritical are the politicians calling for DEFUNDING the police while they are provided personal security details for THEIR own safety? As if we needed another reason to be disgusted with elected officials.
The Tyber Lustig Foundation encourages everyone to be thankful that we have courageous men and women willing to risk their own lives to help ensure the safety of others.
